Framing the shower bench seat. When you run your membrane down the walls run it down and over the bench down to the floor overlapping the front of the floor membrane. The shower bench should be level and plumb. The newly designed r26 bench is now adjustable expanding from 19 32.

Use a nail gun or 3 deck screws to connect all the 2x4s. Frame the shower bench such that the 2x4s are 12 on center and about 20 to 26 high. You can put them in and remove them as quickly. Make sure to use pressure treated wood to construct the bench box frame.

Frame your bench against your wall framing and put a solid piece of backerboard on the top making sure it s sloped. Always remember to deduct the plywood thickness in this case it is inch used for the bench top. This can be folded so that it doesn t occupy space when not in use. Attached on the wall this folding shower bench is a combination of stainless steel metal framing and teak wood.

Use of foam board as a substrate will require a minimum 2 4 wood backing to be installed to provide fastener support at all connecting locations including bt 17s locations if applicable. This new version of the r26 offers the same value of the smaller bench but with the flexibility to expand to a longer length to meet those in between needs. These are the perfect bracket for floating benches and shower seats.

A free floating installation without any side wall connection will require 2 invisabolts with 4 6 minimum wood blocking for the full length of the bench. For more details see the adjustable bench page. Anchor the seat to studs with wood blocking if it s between studs. Also deduct inch for the tile backboard.
