Fuel Tank Drain Plug Leaking

Drained the fuel tank via the fuel pump hose keeping the car at an angle towards the fuel pump side lowest point at the fuel pump hose.

Leave for about an hour then fill the tank don t wipe off any excess straight away. Have towels or rags nearby to wipe up any spills. Wait until the outside of the soap dissolves into a mush. Not to worry there is a temporary solution to your fuel drip problem.

Here are all of the tools. Drain the fuel from the tank. The drain plug is not sealing after tightening. Once the drain plug has been loosened remove it completely by hand.

Place it in water. Not the fitting leaking it s a crack in the welding of the pipe. The leak started when i tried to remove the plug to drain the fuel and by doing so somewhere along the welded area crack. Fuel tank drain plug leaking use teflon tape or other type.

It didn t seal so they used what i can only guess was silicone caulk to try to hold in the fuel. If the tank is leaking on the bottom you can even rub soap on the leaks and they will seal up. Take precaution as fuel is going to spill out at full force as soon as the drain plug is fully removed. I plan to drain the fuel and remove the drain plug and wrap threads with teflon tape and insert and tighten to see if this will stop the fuel leak from the threads. Then remove the plug with spanners or a socket wrench and let the fuel drain into the pan. The best and easiest way to drain a fuel tank without getting dirty or messy in simple easy steps.

Allow the fuel to drain until the tank is empty. Repairing a fuel tank can get difficult especially when the it is full of fuel. Someone had to drain this fuel tank once before.
